Who won the X Factor UK 2013?

As had been expected since her very first room audition, over the X Factor series 10 winner is Sam Bailey. Having received over 1 million votes to win the final.

Over the course of the final weekend, the voting was split with Sam Bailey polling 53.4% of the vote, Nicholas McDonald getting 36.3% and Luke Friend managing 10.3%. Of course all of Luke’s votes came prior to his elimination, at the end of Saturday nights show.

The 36-year old former prison officer was mentored to victory by returning judge Sharon Osbourne, with the result also giving Mrs O her first ever series winner.

Sam successfully sealed the deal with a powerful and emotional performance of her winners single ‘Skyscraper‘, originally released by X Factor USA judge Demi Lovato.

The two-part final which was broadcast live on ITV, took place at Wembley Arena on Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th of December, 2013.

After nine weeks of live shows, the 12 finalists were eventually whittled down to three contestants: Sam Bailey, Luke Friend and Nicholas McDonald. At the end of the Saturday night show, it was announced that Luke had received the fewest votes and was out of the competition.

This left Sam and Nicholas to battle it out on Sundays grand final, with Mrs Bailey eventually being crowned the X Factor 2013 winner.

Before host Dermot O’Leary revealed the final result, Sam sang ‘The Power of Love’ and ‘Skyscraper’, while Nicholas performed ‘Angel’ and ‘Superman (It’s Not Easy)’.
