So with The Voice UK Live Shows starting this Saturday and the competition looking fairly wide open, I thought I’d have a go at predicting the 2014 winner.

Predicting the winners of talent shows is of course notoriously tricky, it’s one thing deciding who you think is the best, it’s quite another working out if they’ll actually get the most votes. But I thought what the heck, I’ll just choose my favorites and hope justice is done.

I had a tough time deciding between Team Kylie member Rachael O’Connor and Team Ricky’s Christina Marie. If the contest was about pure power, I’d have to go with Christina Marie, no questions asked. But overall at this stage I think Rachael just edges it. But only just.

If your a betting man or woman and interested in who’s the odds on favorite to win, at the time of writing this article, bookmakers Paddy Power have Team Tom singer Sally Barker top of the list, with Christina Marie second and Rachael third.

Had Rachael not already eliminated her in the Battle Round stages, I’d have also tipped fellow 16-year-old Amelia O’Connell. I still don’t understand why Kyle put the two potential winners up against each other at such an early stage.

Anyway, the whole point of the Live Shows is to see who can improve the most, who makes the best song selections and who performs best under pressure. Just one great vocal performance could put any of the 12 finalists right in the running for this year title.

To round out the possible final 4 lineup, I’d hesitantly say Sally Barker from Team Tom and Team Will’s Iesher Haughton. Hmm, an all female final? I wonder what odds you’d get on that.

Obviously now I’ve chosen my favorites, they’ll probably all go out in the first week but hey, lets see what happens.
