Inspired by the career of real life 19th century detective Jonathan ‘Jack’ Whicher, actor Paddy Considine returns to our screens in 2014 for two brand new episodes of the ITV drama, The Suspicions of Mr Whicher.

Written by Helen Edmundson and set against the backdrop of mid-Victorian England, these two new stories no longer follow Jack as an Inspector with the Metropolitan Police, but instead in his new role of ‘private inquiry agent’.

Filming Locations: Where is The Suspicions of Mr Whicher filmed for ITV?

These two new episodes where shot during April and May of 2014, using locations in Hertfordshire, Kent and Wiltshire. According to the Kent Film Office, some of the series was filmed specifically at The Historic Dockyard Chatham.

The dockyard has proven to be a popular filming location for many period television series and films due to its combination of cobbled streets and Victorian/Georgian buildings. Other TV series shot at the dockyard in recent years include Mr Selfridge and Call the Midwife.

Air Dates

Episode 1 ‘Beyond The Pale’ airs from 9:05pm to 11:00pm on Sunday 7 September, 2014 on ITV, while episode 2 ‘The Ties That Bind’ will broadcast the following week from 9:00pm to 11:00pm on Sunday the 14th.
