Here’s a look at 3 more of the 12 contestants taking part in the 2014 series of The Great British Bake Off, which airs over 10 episodes this summer from its new home of BBC One.

Luis – Age 42

Luis was born and bred in Stockport by Spanish parents, with he and wife, Louise, meeting each other aged just 17 while attending college. The 42-year-old trained as a Graphic Designer and in his spare time, likes to make model aeroplanes, play the Ukulele and keep bees.

An extremely inventive baker, Luis creates thoroughly researched and unique bakes such as his Tequila Slammer Cheesecake or his cherry brandy pipette gateaux. In his baking, Luis uses honey from his bees and fresh ingredients from his allotment.

Diana – Age 69

At 69, Diana happens to be the Bake Off’s oldest contestant to date. She’s a traditional baker armed with a quick wit and sense of seeing the brighter side of life. The daughter of a dairy farmer, she grew up in a Shropshire farm on the Welsh borders, where she joined the WI aged only 13 and became a WI judge 7 years later.

Diana met husband, Malcolm, at a Young Farmers social event when she was just 16 and the pair have been together ever since. Going into the competition, making her daughter’s wedding cake has been Diana’s proudest moment in baking.

Jordan – Age 32

The self-confessed ‘nerdy baker’ of the Bake Off tent, Jordan lives in Nottingham where he works as an IT manager. The 32-year-old is a baking revolutionary, passionate about crossbreeding bakes like his “pretzel-croissant”, he’s spent a great deal of time perfecting his own version of the “cronut.”

Jordan sees baking as being similar to computer programming, one wrong instruction and the whole thing goes awry. He calls his pet sourdough starter ‘Yorick the Yeast’, who requires daily feeding to keep him happy and healthy.

In episode 1 of the new 2014 series, the line-ups first Signature Challenge will be to make a Swiss Roll. But with such an apparently simple challenge comes risk: Who will have the tightest roll? Whose roll will split? Plus should the contestants go for the classic style or push the boat out to impress?
