It’s now been officially revealed that episode 1 of The Driver will start at 9:00pm on Tuesday 23 September, 2014 on BBC One.

The three-part series tells the story of taxi driver Vince McKee, an ordinary guy who due to frustration with work and his personal life, ends up making a terrible decision. Watching the dramatic and very promising trailer, we now get a big clue as to what this decision turns out to be.

Speaking about the highly anticipated 2014 television drama, writer Danny Brocklehurst (Clocking Off, Accused, Exile) said: “The Driver is a passion project for me and I’m proud of the way it is both a character drama and a thriller. As with all my work there is a strong emotional core and it explores ordinary lives pushed into extraordinary situations.”

Episode 1 Synopsis

Ever since their son Tim cut ties with the family, Vince and his wife Ros have drifted apart. They blame themselves for his departure and have become accustomed to living separate lives.

The offer of becoming a driver for gang leader The Horse at first seems like an exciting proposition to Vince, but as the gang prepare for a major job he soon starts to wish he could have his old life back.
