When does Strictly 2014 start?
Strictly Come Dancing returns to introduce its celeb lineup on Sunday 7 September at 8:00pm on BBC One. There’s also set to be a Red Carpet Special broadcasting on the BBC Red Button and iPlayer at 7:00pm on Wednesday 3 September.
The competition itself gets underway at 9:00pm on Friday 26 September, 2014 on BBC One.
This years series will be presented by the team of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. Check out the complete list of Strictly 2014 contestants, now officially confirmed.
In addition to the new hosting lineup, it’s also been confirmed that judges Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli will all be returning for Strictly series 12.
The confirmed list of pros competing in 2014 are:
Female: Aliona Vilani, Iveta Lukosiute, Janette Manrara, Joanne Clifton, Karen Hauer, Kristina Rihanoff, Natalie Lowe and Ola Jordan.
Male: Aljaž Skorjanec, Anton du Beke, Brendan Cole, Kevin Clifton, Pasha Kovalev, Robin Windsor and Tristan MacManus.
As has now become tradition, until the Strictly Come Dancing celebrity contestants are officially announced by BBC One each year, just about anyone in the world of showbiz or sport will get linked to a possible place on the show.
Expect the usual mix of soap stars, sports personalities and BBC newsreaders, with perhaps one overseas celeb thrown in for good measure.
Some of the more likely names being tipped for the Strictly 2014 dance floor include ex-TOWIE star Mark Wright, Match of the Day football pundit Alan Hansen, The Saturdays girl band member Frankie Sandford (Bridge) and maybe even former Xtra Factor host Caroline Flack.
Update: On the 13th of August, Frankie Bridge became the first celebrity to be officially confirmed for the Strictly 2014 celeb line-up. Making the announcement on BBC Breakfast, The Saturdays singer said: “I’m such a huge fan of Strictly! I’ve always wanted to be a part of the show – it looks like so much fun and the costumes are just gorgeous.”
