Aurora Borealis – The Spectacular Northern Lights

The BBC have now officially confirmed that series 4 of Stargazing Live will indeed return in early 2014. As with previous years, the astronomy based series will begin airing in the new year on BBC Two over three consecutive nights.

Hosts Dara O Briain and Prof Brian Cox will be bringing viewers more great astronomical imagery, including the latest pictures from various probes currently travelling our solar system. SGL will also deliver unique demonstrations and fascinating science, plus up-to-date weather reports, hopefully bringing news of clear night skies.

One of this series most interesting films will see a teams attempt to film the Northern Lights live while on board an aeroplane.

Speaking to the BBC, Brian Cox stated: “This series promises to be bolder and more ambitious than ever. We’ll be looking at everything from the Milky Way and other galaxies to space weather. Everyone can get involved and we hope the audience will join in to explore the wonders of space.”
