I am thrilled it has been commissioned for a third outing and rest assured we have some really exciting plans for viewers from DI Perez and his team.”

Despite being one of the BBC’s most popular crime-dramas, Shetland is in fact produced by ITV Studios through BBC Scotland.

Originally premiering in March of 2013, the BBC TV series has been adapted from Ann Cleeves’s successful Shetland quartet crime novels.
