The track you hear playing during the opening credits to ITV’s new crime drama Prime Suspect 1973 is a cover of the 1969 single Can’t Find My Way Home, being performed by the legendary British singer Joe Cocker.

Can’t Find My Way Home was originally written by musician Steve Winwood and released by his band Blind Faith.

Since then, the song has been recorded by a long list of artists and groups, with Joe Cocker releasing his unique version in 1991.


Adapted from Lynda La Plante’s novel Tennison, Prime Suspect 1973 is a new six-part ITV crime drama that sees actress Stefanie Martini take on the role of the 22-year-old WPC Jane Tennison.

Joining Stefanie on the shows cast list is actor Sam Reid, who plays her superior DI Bradfield.
