Full Room Audition YouTube Video
After a fair few distinctly average auditions so far on The X Factor 2014, along with Paul Akister’s ‘Jealous Guy’, Saturday’s performance by Lola Saunders may have restored my faith in the shows ability to find world class vocal talent.
Arguably singing ‘Make You Feel My Love’ every bit as well as Adele, the 20-year-old proved there’s potential stars in the UK, still waiting to be discovered. On the basis of her first round audition, you’d have to say this South Shields fishmonger could soon be looking at a dramatic career change.
Simon Cowell: “Lola, I just want to tell you, I thought that was a fantastic audition, I really did. I loved the way that you controlled the song, I think you’ve got a fantastic voice, real soul.”
Mel B: “Lola you look like a mini superstar, you have got everything and more. Well done.”
Louis Walsh: “It was very emotional, I could tell the song meant an awful lot to you. It was absolutely brilliant.”
Cheryl: “Lot of emotion behind it right?”
Rounding things off with four infatic yes’s, Simon declared “This is going to be one heck of a competition.” So now we can look forward to seeing what Lola Saunders has in store for the arena auditions later in the series.
The first selection of arena auditions begin broadcasting on ITV at 8:00pm on Saturday, 13 September.
