The air date for the BBC’s one-off TV drama ‘Common’ has now been officially released, with the 90-minute film broadcasting at 9:00pm on Sunday, 6 July, 2014, on BBC One.

Set in the north-west of England and starring Nico Mirallegro as 17-year-old Johnjo O’Shea, Common is based on Britain’s controversial Joint Enterprise Law.

Plot

When Johnjo gives a group of friends a last-minute lift to the pizza parlour, he doesn’t expect the trip to lead to him being charged with murder. While he waits in the car, one of their group takes offence with an innocent bystander, who ends up getting fatally stabbed.

In their resulting battle for justice, O’Shea and his family learn that not being present at the murder scene is no defence.
