How many episodes in BBC One’s Britain’s Best Home Cook are there going to be?

Series 1 the BBC’s brand-new culinary competition Britain’s Best Home Cook is scheduled to air over a total of eight episodes, each running for around 60 minutes.

Presented by Strictly’s Claudia Winkleman, the show premieres on Thursday 3 May, 2018 at 8:00pm on BBC1, with catch-up available online via BBC iPlayer.

As the title suggests, the show sets out to find the countries top home cook. Beginning with 10 hopeful contestants, judges Mary Berry, Chris Bavin and Dan Doherty will gradually whittle them down as they test their culinary skills over a wide range of challenges.

Unlike other TV cooking shows though such as The Great British Bake Off and Masterchef, one of the twists in Britain’s Best Home Cook’s premise is that the shows 10 contestants must leave their own homes to all live together in one location for the duration of the competitions filming.

You can’t help but think of this as Masterchef meets Big Brother or The Apprentice, but hopefully having all 10 cooks living in the same house won’t lead to any reality TV arguments, especially given the housemates shared passion for food.

Hailing from a wide range of regions and cities, including Salford, Wolverhampton, County Down in Northern Ireland, Kent, Glasgow, Neath in South Wales and London, the 10 cooks taking part in this first series have now been named as Katie, Dipa, Trevor, Fiona, Cyrus, Tobi, Josie, Philip, Pippa and Q.
